About the Artist
“Growing up in West Texas I developed a passion at a young age for art in many different forms.
I went on to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Baylor University with a concentration in jewelry design, painting, and art history. After graduation I married my best friend Chris and moved with him to Houston, Texas where I worked at a fine art gallery as an Art Consultant. I had the opportunity to not only work closely with individual collectors but also corporate buyers. I also had the occasion to host many shows for both well established and also up and coming artists. Houston had a vibrant art community and I was able to draw personal inspiration from the Houston Museum of Fine Art, the Menil Collection, and the neighboring Mark Rothko chapel. These abstract expressionists and works that I immersed myself in during this time period heavily influenced my personal style. I have also drawn inspiration from Norman Lewis’ work as well as George Morrison’s wood collages.

My husband took a job transfer to Fort Worth where I put my artistic background to use as a Visual Merchandiser for Pier 1 Imports corporate headquarters. While this career move was a bit of a departure from the direct tie to fine art and artists, I quickly found myself surrounded by very talented co-workers and buyers. We were constantly immersed by merchandise and art samples from around the world that continued to inspire my personal creativity. Fort Worth’s art community was likewise inspiring with frequent trips to the Modern, the Kimball, and the Amon Carter museums.

Eventually, my husband pursued another job opportunity which took us to the High Plains town of Amarillo, Texas. Upon moving we were blessed to begin adding to our family which now includes two daughters and a son. Staying plugged into my passion for art while raising a family I began a handmade jewelry company that I ran for 10 years. I sold my creations through trunk shows, an online site, local boutiques, and also several other retailers across the state. I have also been fortunate to let my creativity serve others while being on the board of directors for the Amarillo Botanical Gardens for the past seven years.

In recent years, my creative outlet has morphed into modern designs in quilting and needle art. Eventually, I began using solid colors of 100% cotton densely woven fabric and creating abstract stitched pieces. I am honored to have some of my work on display in the historic Flat Iron Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina as well as the beautiful Cerulean Gallery in Dallas, Texas.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I have enjoyed creating it!”
