Peter Robbins photo career began in 1980 when he and his wife, Kim, moved to Europe. He worked as a photo journalist for both American and European news agencies. Robbins worked on photography projects throughout Europe, Asia, Middle East, South and Central America. Robbins worked in Egypt and Jordan at the end of the 1st Gulf War. He was also in Central America during the Nicaragua and Guatemala crisis in 1986.
Robbins transitioned from photo journalism to editorial, commercial, and fashion photography in the mid-1980s. His clients included Neiman Marcus, Lands’ End, Eddie Bauer, and JC Penny.
In 1995, Robbins began photographing ranches and cowboys. He has worked on ranches throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming. These ranches include the Pitchfork, 6666, Tongue Rover, Moorhouse, Spires, ORO, Bell, TO, Stewart. He works alongside the men at these ranches and photograph the daily life of cowboys, the horses they ride and the cattle they raise. Robbins resides in Ft. Worth, TX.
Robbins prints his photos on canvas and then hand paints with oil pastels on top them. They are then sealed and stretched over custom made stretcher bars. Each image is an original and cannot be duplicated. The inks, pastels and sealers are the most archival materials of their kind available and will last many generations.
