Artist Statement

Growing up in the country embedded a deep love for the beauty of the natural world. The small moments: stargazing, sipping nectar from clover flowers, wandering through the woods, the stillness of the lake, my first time with the oceans, the majestic sky with its ever changing composition have been profoundly impactful.

My 18 year career as a personal stylist is also present in my work in that color, shine, pattern, shape and texture were my tools and the body my canvas. I tend to approach a painting by building layers of these elements.

My works are a culmination of my experiences. The places I’ve seen and moments I have savored play in my head while I paint. Every work is it’s own experience and a journey of mark making and building layers to reach the final new image.

My art has been described as “tangible joy” which meets my goal to paint with joy and bring that to the world. I hope you enjoy viewing as much as I do making.
