Karen Francesca James
For artist Karen Francesca James her newest series of work premiers a style she calls “sculpture on canvas.” She creates one-of-a-kind works of art by layering mixed-medium textures and acrylic paint then sealing the canvas with a high gloss, creating a stunning impact.
Like sculpture, the paintings are designed to be touched and create a type of interactive art experience for the art lover. The series currently encompasses four themes that range in color and style with bright, bold colors to white pearlescent and neutral tone pieces.
Karen’s art is inspired by her late husband, who encouraged her, just a few days before he died, to pursue a new style she was experimenting with that had a modern heavy abstract form. Based on his praise and encouragement, Karen developed this style into its current form and has since created more than two dozen pieces.
Karen is passionate about using her art to help enhance the lives of children and teenagers and is dedicated to raising money to support organizations that impact youth. She will donate a percentage of the proceeds from all her works sold during the exhibition, from May 16 – June 15, to the Make a Wish Foundation of North Texas. On the opening night of the exhibition, Karen will silent auction two of her favorite paintings, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the foundation to support a child’s Adventure wish.
Karen’s other modern abstract paintings have shown in galleries in Santa Fe and Dallas. Karen is co-owner of James Nuñez Group, a boutique public relations firm. She resides in Dallas and is a member of Fellowship Bible Church of Dallas. She shares her life with her four stepchildren, family and friends.
